Waste to energy: Bengaluru gets Dutch help

Karnataka state government has entered into an agreement with Netherlands’ government for a waste to energy project to help dispose 600 metric tonnes of garbage generated in the city. The project is going to yield 7 MW of power every day that will be purchased by the state government as per the rates fixed by Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC). The project will be initiated on pilot basis and after its success, it will be taken up in other parts of the city and the state.
